Claus Hessler is known for his open-minded approach to rhythm and his deep roots in a wide range of musical styles. From rock, jazz and big band to Afro-Cuban and Brazilian influences, Claus brings an unmistakable energy to everything he plays. Equally at home on stage or in the classroom, he is also a globally respected educator—having worked with students and institutions across more than 40 countries.
Mentored by drumming greats Jim Chapin and Dom Famularo, Claus now continues their legacy through masterclasses, private lessons, and online courses via Open Minded Drumming. His educational work has helped shape the careers of artists like Anika Nilles (Jeff Beck, Independent) and Philo Tsoungui (The Mars Volta), among many others.
In addition to his long-standing Hammond trio FLUX, Claus also leads CH3, a newer synth-driven trio blending Moog, guitar and drums. Both projects showcase his versatility and commitment to pushing rhythmic boundaries through original compositions and dynamic performance.
